Finalists Selected for Sixteenth Judicial District Court Bench

On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the Sixteenth Judicial District Nominating Commission announced its selection of three finalists to fill a vacancy on the Sixteenth Judicial District Court bench. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Jon Kolomitz, effective February 2, 2013.

The nominees are William Judson Culver, of Rocky Ford; Rodney D. Fouracre, Sr., of La Junta; and Mark Andrew MacDowell, of Las Animas. The nominees were selected by the commission on December 10, 2012.

Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days from December 11, 2012 in which to appoint one of the nominees to the bench in the Sixteenth Judicial District.     I think Rodney Fouracre would be an excellent choice to fill the vacancy for the bench in the 16th Judicial district. I have worked with him for close to 20 years and know him to be a fair and impartial attorney withthe District Attorney’s office. He would weigh all the evidence and proceed accordingly. I have since retired from law enforcement but know during my career, Mr. Fouracre was a knowledgeable, fair and compassionate person when dealing with person(s) in and out of the justice system.
