Finalists Announced for Second Judicial District Court Vacancy

On Tuesday, May 5, 2015, the Colorado State Judicial Branch announced the selection of three nominees for a forthcoming vacancy on the Second Judicial District Court. The vacancy will be created on June 1 by the retirement of Hon. Herbert L. Stern, III. The three nominees are David H. Goldberg, Jay S. Grant, and Christine A. Washburn.

David H. Goldberg is a shareholder with Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where he represents companies, financial institutions, and others in business and commercial disputes. Jay S. Grant is a Deputy State Public Defender in Denver, where he handles all levels of felony criminal cases and all types of criminal charges. Christine A. Washburn is Chief Deputy District Attorney for the Denver District Attorney’s Office, where she practices criminal prosecution and is co-chief of the Family Violence Unit.

Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days from May 5 in which to select one of the nominees for appointment. If he does not select a nominee in that time, the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court may select a nominee. Comments regarding any of the nominees may be emailed to the governor at
